Online courses
These online courses are made by Balansekunst. They are made for arts and culture organisations who want to take part of our program Balansemerket, aiming to prevent harassment and discrimination in arts and culture. The courses are also free to use for anyone who like to learn more about anti-discrimination and work for equality and diversity.
Preventing sexual harassment
In this online resourse, we present statistics on the incidence of sexual harassment, we present the legislation and how to assess and handle cases. The course includes perspectives on power, relations and boundaries, and how sexual harassment intersects with stereotypes, prejudice and other forms of discrimination. We outline risk factors for abuse of power in arts and culture and suggest some measures to meet risks.
Norms, equality and diversity
The resource provides an introduction to norm-critical perspectives as a tool in diversity and gender equality work. We present challenges, battles and key perspectives related to different grounds of discrimination: gender, sexuality, ethnicity, ability, body, religion, age and class. The resource deals with concepts such as representation, bias and privileges.
'Hersketeknikker' and harassment
This online course presents the phenomenon called 'hersketeknikker' in Norwegian – subtle condescending and belittling behaviors that put others down, either intended or unintended. By naming what causes self-doubt and discomfort, we are able to talk about it and challenge the power relations. Severe cases of hersketeknikker can be considered harassment, and may be illegal.
